DJ in Miami & Miami Beach

I'm not new here. Miami made me.

Twenty years in the booth in this county. Fontainebleau, Eden Roc, W South Beach, SLS, the Biltmore, InterContinental. I don't have to explain this market to you — you live in it. What I bring is the hours, the paperwork and the judgement to keep a Miami Beach night from getting shut down at eleven. I work with planners, production companies and hotels across Miami-Dade.

Areas

Where the events happen

across Miami-Dade

South Beach & Mid-Beach

Fontainebleau, Eden Roc, Faena, The Betsy, The Palms. Corporate galas, incentive programs and large destination weddings. The highest budgets in the county and by far the strictest rules: house AV, the permit and the certificate of insurance get settled here before anyone talks about music.

Brickell & Downtown

Four Seasons, SLS Brickell, JW Marriott Marquis, InterContinental. Banking, law and Latin American regional headquarters: launches, holiday parties and rooftop cocktail receptions. A genuinely bilingual professional crowd, where the MC work matters as much as the set.

Wynwood & the Design District

Mana Wynwood and the converted warehouses. Brand activations, launches, fashion and festival-format work. Creative-agency clients, tight timelines and load-in against the clock: here the DJ is a production element, not the headline.

Coral Gables & Coconut Grove

Loews Coral Gables, Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove, Vizcaya, Mr. C. Weddings, quinceañeras and galas for established Latin American families. Venues with approved-vendor lists and an end time written into the contract, not negotiated on the night.

Doral, Hialeah & the west

Aviation, logistics and Latin American trade on the corporate side, and family celebrations right beside it. In Hialeah most residents are of Cuban origin; in Doral roughly four in ten are Venezuelan. A Doral corporate event and a Hialeah quinceañera are not built from the same crate.

Aventura, Sunny Isles & Key Biscayne

JW Marriott Turnberry and the oceanfront condo corridor. Resort weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, and building-community events. An international, second-home crowd, and access and load-in logistics you have to plan well ahead.

Local craft

What I already know

and here it costs to not know

01

Here there isn't one rule, there are three

Miami Beach has its code, the City of Miami has its own, and the county ordinance applies on top of both, inside and outside the municipalities. One Saturday can cross two different jurisdictions. Knowing which one governs your venue's address is part of the job, not a legal footnote.

02

Eleven at night and a hundred feet

In Miami Beach, between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m., music plainly audible at a hundred feet is evidence of a violation. And a special-event permit does not exempt you — the city says so in writing. That's why a terrace close gets designed in advance, not improvised at 10:55.

03

March doesn't quote like the rest of the year

Miami Beach declares March a high-impact period: amplified music by city permit only, restricted beach entrances and Ocean Drive closed to traffic on peak weekends. Music Week lands on top of it. If your event is in March, the conversation starts with load-in and access.

04

At the Convention Center you don't touch the rig

The Miami Beach Convention Center runs house AV and union labor for staging and audio: an outside contractor may supervise, not perform, and crew carries a four-hour minimum. You quote that from the start or it eats your margin.

Colombian party

Colombia is Miami's number one inbound country

In 2024, 434,000 overnight visitors from Colombia came to Miami-Dade — ahead of Brazil, Canada, the UK and Mexico. That's on top of roughly 138,000 Colombian residents in the county. It isn't a niche: it's the destination's number one international market, and a good share of those weddings and celebrations fly the family in from Colombia.

Questions

What I get asked

Miami

Do you already work Miami, or are you starting out?

Twenty years here. Fontainebleau, Eden Roc, W South Beach, SLS South Beach, Moxy, the Biltmore, InterContinental, Hyatt Centric Brickell, AKA Brickell and around thirty more hotels and venues. It's the only question that really matters, so it goes first.

I'm a planner or a production company. Do you work as a vendor?

It's half of what I do in this county. I invoice through Music DJ Academy & Events Inc., with $1M per-occurrence and $2M aggregate liability, a COI naming the venue and your company, W-9 and contract. Your client stays yours: I don't hand out cards and I don't negotiate on the side.

How do you handle insurance and permits?

The COI is issued naming whoever is required and covering load-in and load-out, not just show hours — which is where most certificates fail. Venues with closed vendor lists ask for it up to 45 days ahead, so that gets handled at signing, not during event week.

The room is half Cuban, half Venezuelan, half everything. How do you read it?

Miami-Dade is 70.6% Hispanic and three in four residents over five speak another language at home. But it isn't one audience: Cubans, Venezuelans, Colombians, Nicaraguans, Boricuas and Dominicans don't ask for the same thing. I read by region, not by continent, and the MC work runs in both languages without sounding translated.

What does it cost?

It depends on the date, the hours and the setup. Send me those three things and you'll have a number within 24 hours. I don't publish prices because an Art Basel Saturday in Mid-Beach and a September Thursday in Coral Gables don't quote the same — and you know that better than anyone.

The next step

Send me the date

Miami

Date, venue and hours. With that you'll have a number within 24 hours. If you're still comparing options, write anyway and I'll tell you straight whether I'm the right DJ for that event.
